The Virus

"In hindsight, I should have realized it was all Mihoshi's fault."

- Professor Washuu (in a speech given to the American CDC on day 783 of the 'Nerima-virus' pandemic.)

'The Virus' is a story about what goes wrong when we play with things we have no control of. It's a story that talks about life, chaos, and the mixture of the two. It's a story in which Tenchi, Keiichi, and Kunou all turn into girls.

Aaannnyyywayy... Here is the original 'Virus' story as posted to the FFML and several other writers takes on possible consequences of The Virus.

The Virus. The original virus story in which the Nerima Virus is unleashed on humanity by an improbable sequence of events and a seldom-thinking blonde Galaxy Policewoman.

Me win award? Uh oh!
Holy crap! I never thought I would win an award like this...

Cold Water Date

Robert Haynie, aka Kenko, has started a Virus-based 'Epic' that centers around the Tendou dojo. For those who aren't familiar with Robert's work, he's the author of 'Girl Days' and 'Paragon', two of my favorite Ranma stories. He's a very talented author, so I recommend you give his stuff a try!

Adjusting - by Robert Haynie. "You know, it may have been hell of most of the planet at first, but the Nerima Virus may have been the best damn thing ever to happento me." - 'Adjusting in Nerima' and 'Adjusting in Juuban'

Cold Water Date - by Robert Haynie. "Oh, she'd come to terms with the curse before that-- but she'd certainly never been ATTRACTED to Ranma's female form. But now, ifhit with cold water, he WAS noticing her..." Cold Water Date continues the story Robert began in 'Adjusting'.

More Virus:

Day 503 - Infecting Another Realm - by Adrian Tymes. "What magic is this? The Emperor is now an Empress?"

The Virus - Shoujo Kakume Utena - by Chris Nasipak. "Kiryuu Touga swept into the ballroom, Nanami to one side and Utena to the other."

Virus Vignettes - by Thryth. "A maniacal gleam entered Ukyou's eyes as he examined herself in the mirror..."

Another Virus Vignette - by Thryth. "You would have to avoid cold water from the time of the conception all the way until the birth."

Exceptions to the Rule - by Ed Becerra. "Now we're on the run. Just about every person who stillclings to some faint hope of a cure is hunting us. Before, all wehad to do was worry about religious idiots who wanted to burn us atthe stake, or some other fool traditional form of execution."

Living with the Virus: the good, the bad, and the simply bizarre. - by Bruce Munro. "The fiancee thing has gotten better, too. With the ol' ghoulgone back to China to help the Amazons through the worst, whatchacallit, "identity crisis" in their history, Shampoo ain'tnearly as much of a threat..."

Wo-man - by Crystal. "Wufei-onna twitched as she belatedly realized that her sword was gone." Gomen... I couldn't resist. ^_^

Close Call - by Nicholas Leifker. "He'd never known real fear until today. He thought he'd known it, when he faced his first beloved's death. He knew it now. Outside, he could hear strange conversations from strange voices; seems most of their friends and relatives had changed, and were dealing with it in their own way. He suspected the whole world would have to deal with it; the change had spread like wildfire, with dangerously little warning to the populace."

Family Meeting - by Nicholas Leifker."That is... part of it. I... I was raised with the idea that manliness involved satisfying the needs of as many women as possible..."

Interpersonal Effects - by Siaru. "The night air was cold anddamp, and I might just be male for the very last time; I wantedto stay that way as long as I could."

A Rejoining of Branches - by Thryth. "The first few months of dating Chigako were pure heaven. Yohko had never actually had a boyfriend that wasn't possessed, unwanted, or else died within a few days of meeting him."

The Virus RPG - as moderated by Thryth. The Virus RPG is a freeform role-playing game conducted by mailing list and set in the Virus universe. (Ye gods, I never thought it would get this big...)

According to Thryth: This is a Next Generation RPG with a twist. For those unfamiliar with the [...] fanfic, "The Virus," the basic premise is this.A virus Washu Hakubi was using was accidentally altered and unleashed by Mihoshi, and, after encountering Ranma Saotome, proceeded to infect the world with a communicable Jusenkyo gender flipping curse. And now you'd be playing the generation after the virus hit...

Membership in the game is carefully managed to avoid overpopulation, but if you're interested in playing or would like more information, you can read more about it here.
